Early Era: 1805-1979

Long before the Story Arts Centre the land beneath was part of the Playter family and Helliwell family’s land and later housed a public school built in 1915 and Toronto’s Teacher’s College in 1953. Visit the SAC library to see a timelapse of aerial maps of the land, photographs of the original students and structures, and learn about the legacy of education that began long before Centennial arrived.

Degrassi High Era: 1989-1991

Experience the Story Arts Centre while it was a dynamic stage for the innovative high school drama: Degrassi High. Come to see the exclusive behind the scenes photography, scripts from the Degrassi archives, and genuine costumes from on set. Can you find the spots in SAC that feature in the show?

Centennial Era: 1994-2026

The Story Arts Centre adopted several names and identities as a Centennial College institution, and became a school of Communications, Media, Art and Design. Our collection displays the years of creativity and innovation of SAC through authentic art from Fine Arts Studio students, news articles, and images and objects that represent the memories that will live on long after the era of this significant building has ended.
